How to forward WhatsApp photos and videos to Telegram (automatically, with the media intact)
Forwarding one photo by hand is easy. Keeping a whole WhatsApp group’s photos, videos and voice notes flowing into Telegram is not: WhatsApp’s “Export chat” drops long chats to <media omitted>, and Telegram’s import is a one-time snapshot. wa2tg does this for you: a live bridge that mirrors your WhatsApp group into a Telegram group, both ways, and carries the media as real files.
Set it up (about 2 minutes, no app, no QR)
- Log in at wa2tg.app/start, pick Groups and name your Telegram group — we create it for you.
- In WhatsApp, add our bridge number +61468332437 to the group whose media you want in Telegram.
- Paste the short code from the page into that WhatsApp group. Within seconds it replies “Connected!”.
- From now on every photo, video, voice note, sticker and document posted in WhatsApp shows up in the Telegram group — and the other way round.
What exactly gets forwarded?
Photos (as photos, not files), videos, voice notes (as playable voice messages), documents/PDFs, stickers and text, with the sender’s name when the group has more than two people. Files up to about 20 MB per message on the Telegram side.
Why not just “Export chat”?
Export is a one-off and WhatsApp strips the media from long chats (“media omitted”). The bridge is live: nothing to export, nothing to re-do tomorrow, and media arrives as media.
Can I forward only from WhatsApp to Telegram?
Yes. By default the bridge mirrors both ways; send /direction in the Telegram group to make it one-way (WhatsApp → Telegram only).
Does it work with a WhatsApp Channel or a Telegram channel?
Yes, as a paid clone: WhatsApp Channel → Telegram or WhatsApp group → Telegram channel.
What does it cost?
Free: 100 messages/day for 5 days, then 20/day forever. Group plan $5/month (1 group, 100/day), Pro $20/month (3 bridges, no message limit), Business $50/month (20 bridges).
